Rent to Retirement Review
I’ve purchased three properties with RTR and have held them for about a year, so I wanted to share an honest review.
All three are in the Akron/Canton area, purchased between $125K–$145K. They’ve been cash flowing around $300/month so far, but that’s with no property management fee in year one. Once PM kicks in, I expect that to settle closer to ~$200/month.
Overall, the experience has been strong. The property management has been a standout with solid tenant placement, fast communication, and a genuinely proactive team.
I also want to give a shoutout to my rep, Tommy Brown. He did a great job guiding me through each step and making sure I had the right resources along the way. Steve Yoak, RTR’s partner in Ohio, has also been excellent. He’s very investor-friendly and actually delivers on “turnkey.” The rehab quality is solid, and the maintenance standard is clearly high.
Going forward, I plan to keep working with Tommy and the RTR team to continue scaling in the Midwest, while also exploring additional opportunities in the DMV area.

@Charles Bryant thank you for your very detailed review (and taking time to answer everyone's questions)! I think this is a very valuable discussion for the BP community.
I love the fact you waited a full year to write a review so you could actually share true performance over time.
Congrats to you on the success of growing your REI portfolio to meet your goals. Don't listen to any naysayers that want to criticize every detail. Really, they are trying to poop on our business model, which they do not understand. Feedback is a good thing, when it's actually constructive. I wish the BP community was simply more supportive of investors sharing their wins to encourage each other vs the opposite. You're doing a great job, and thank you for being vulnerable enough to openly share your experience. Real estate isn't all sunshine and rainbows, but it is a predictable way to build wealth where you have control over your investments and significant tax benefits / leverage.
Rent To Retirement's reputation speaks for itself. We've have thousands of reviews on BP for over a decade now, so we must me doing something right. Many years ago I left my career as an Optometrist and Captain in the USAF to start this company and build it from the ground up...after guess what...buying my own first turnkey investment property! Lot's of ways to invest out there, but what prevents most people from reaching their goals is never taking action. Charles, you've done a great job actually taking action! Keep up the great work!
