What happened to David and Rob on the BP Podcast?

Seems like out of no-where that BP has replaced David and Rob on the OG Podcast.

Dave Meyers thanks David for his contribution in about a sentence and doesn't even mention Rob.

No exit Podcast which tells me that it wasn't super amicable. Anyone know what the deal is?

I am super bummed to hear David Greene and Rob are no longer hosting. Besides always bringing a good sense of humor I am particularly floored by David Green's ability to explain complex concepts in simple to understand ways. I always feel smarter after listening to him. I have his books and will see where he lands next but I'm definitely bummed about a lack of an exit episode with him and Rob - really jarring as a regular listener.

    @Cody Zucker looks like they’re out…Rob updated his Instagram to “former” Biggerpockets cohost…

    @Jason Bohling

    I miss old time BP, and it has a lot of stories about how investors grow from scratch.

    Now there are too much mindset episodes,data analysis episodes, and syndication episodes.

    I listened to real estate Rookie podcasts more. I think BP startes losing fundamentals now.

    @Peter Jin I hear you, for all the same reasons. The Josh Dorkin/Brandon Turner & early Brandon Turner/David Greene episodes were the best…realistic portfolios held by everyday people and deep dives into 2 or 3 or sometimes more of the properties, that kept me listening.

    @Chris McDonnell yep. If this was amicable, I think it could’ve been handled better.

    David did a live on IG a couple weeks ago in which he did mention that him and BP disagree on what kind of stories to cover - BP wanting to be more inspirational and David wanting to be more realistic (don't quit your W2, etc). I think he was great on the BP podcast and I will definitely listen to his new podcast as well as continue listening to BP. Hope Rob is on his new podcast too!

     First, let me just clarify that my comments below are as a user and not indicative of any BP policy whatsoever - I'm a moderator but also just a guy with houses :)

    As a guy that was on the original podcast, I'm looking forward to @Dave Meyer's contributions. I was not a fan of the DB/RA set up at all. I think the original format had it right, and not just because I was on it. Josh and Brandon brought different views and strengths to the show - Brandon was kind of the inspirational, "rah-rah" guy while Josh was the quintessential New Yorker, calling BS on things that needed to be called BS and bringing reality and humility to the show. They had different strengths and weaknesses and that's why it worked. Since that decoupling, there has been a long stream of "rah-rah" shows that IMO did not focus on ordinary people, bringing a sense of reality back to the process, and inspiring people not by stoking BS dreams of Grant Cardone (who's Grant Cardone, my long-running joke) but by highlighting how your any wo/man could do it, in a realistic way. This isn't a dig at all personally at David or Rob, just that I believe it tended to highlight fantasy thinking and had a lot of people doing if not questionable strategies then ones that IMO don't set you up well for the long game. I should also mention that I have no insight on how guests were selected for that format or what was highlighted, just that in general things kind of just went off the rails and a reboot was probably warranted. This happens in lots of things in life - they just run their course.

    So I say give the new format a chance - I think it's going to be great.

    If you go to DG's last post on Insta, it will shed some light. Basically artistic differences.

    @JD Martin I think you summed up perfectly why the older version worked; couldn’t agree more. I did enjoy having David Greene on there, especially the first couple years, but, and this is by NO means a dig at Rob, but the combo between David and Rob felt forced from day one and it always sounded ‘off’ between them. I wish Rob all the best.

    As for the new version I’ll definitely give it a chance. I like Dave Meyer and think he does a fantastic job on the On the Market podcast

    @Derrick Quals to be honest, given how much David Greene has contributed to BP, how hard he worked for them and the community, I gotta say it was pretty unprofessional and wrong to send them out the way they did…just totally uncool. I wish I could say I don’t see BiggerPockets as an organization in a more negative light now, but I do.

    @Cody Zucker

    Bigger Pockets literally changed my life. I think it was unprofessional and wrong of whatever happened to David and Rob. I don’t see things looking good for BiggerPockets maybe the rookie edition but the original BiggerPockets I just can’t see it moving forward in a positive light.

    In the first 9 minute episode of David Greene's new podcast, he says that a while back, BP was bought by a private equity firm.  And this is where the creative differences started. I guess the camel's back broke eventually.

    I agree and for those saying BP won’t be the same or it was unprofessional etc. As a business owner I will never say anything negative about a former employee even if there could be things said. You ignore the noise and move on and run the company and they feel what they did was in the best interests of the company and owners.

    Everyone said the same when the original owner sold…

    Remember it’s the people and community that contribute that make or break your experience.

    For this company, there has always been open communication Josh Dorcan said when he left Brandon embrace David David embraced Rob. And then the guillotine came.

    I liked the older episodes with Brandon/Josh - I felt there was some really good info in there that 95% of people could use and apply. Lots of fundamentals etc. I also found the 1000th episode quite refreshing. It turned me into a listener again.

    I personally did not care for David Greene/Rob A - David's tone/attitude for me personally comes off as he thinks he's smarter/better etc than everyone else. His head has also morphed into a thumb (idk why). I felt they spent a lot of time on dumb questions and didn't get to what the 90% can relate to and do. I also felt it was extremely click bait - "Look at this baby who has 1000 rentals and achieved FIRE in just 3 weeks!!1!1!" - I mean c'mon - this is just dumb. I get it every once in a while but talk about beating a dead horse.

    It got to the point to where I just could NOT listen to DG/RA - it sounded like 2 buddies in a dark cheap bar with a weird sense of humor making jokes back and forth that only they got. Maybe it was just me but I didn't care for it AT ALL.

    Now - I like @Dave Meyer - realistic, comes with the data (evidence), talks about real scenarios, and about what the 90% can relate to. I also like @Scott Trench - again a realistic guy that talks about what the 90% can do. Making it REALISTIC is what makes me a listener. That plus STRATEGIES and MARKET UPDATES that us, the 90%, can ACTUALLY APPLY to our real estate investment companies.

    I like the creative strategies thrown in there but it has to be done in a way that the 90% can USE and APPLY.

    I personally look forward to this new chapter with Dave Meyers as the host.

    Has to be tough to grow or maintain a real estate investing podcast right now with so few transactions.  Same for the forums here.

    Hey all -- thanks for the feedback and the candid discussion here. As the new host of the show I take the feedback very seriously. I've been a member of this community for 8+ years, and my only objective is to provide value to you all.      What's the agenda? To make money? It's almost like they are trying to run a business or something.

    Glad you guys made it a point to say that you are staying away from the shady guests....You guys had some Sub2 dudes doing some shows. That's a no gooder man. Sub2 is for criminals and deviants.

     Truth brother. Interest in the real estate industry is definitely down right now. This is evidenced by all the Realtors Facebook posts telling everyone how hot the market is lol. They only do that when biz is slow.

    It's kind of like when your favorite DJ's leave a station.... It's just never going to be as good.  It's the start of a slow decline.
