In a $1.6 billion deal, Microsoft and Constellation are working to restart Unit 1 of the Three Mile Island nuclear plant. This move addresses the growing power needs of data centers, which are increasingly relying on alternative energy sources to reduce carbon emissions. The restarted reactor will supply Microsoft’s centers with 835 megawatts of carbon-free energy by 2028. The project is expected to create thousands of jobs and contribute billions to Pennsylvania’s economy, signaling a significant shift toward nuclear power as a reliable energy source for tech infrastructure.
