When should I start my LLC?

I'm just starting in REI and am trying to learn as much as I can now. I was wondering at what point should a beggining Real Estate investor create their business entity. I've decided on an LLC. I don't have any properties on the horizon and probably won't start looking until early 2008.

I'm asking because I am going to start attending seminars, taking classes, etc and will be putting money into this.

My question is, should I create an LLC now so I can write off these expenses or should I wait until I'm about to start making offers on properties. I haven't decided whether I am going to start with multifamily homes or commercial/office buildings yet.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks.
