Fair Price to Form an LLC?

Hello,

I want to form an LLC to hold my properties, and will be doing this in Ohio. I just got a quote from an attorney there for 1000 dollars to form the LLC for my future properties in Ohio as well as the one I'm about to close on in Memphis. Does this sound like a fair rate? Keep in mind its a single member LLC.

Thanks,

Caleb

@Caleb Heimsoth

I typically charge one hour's worth of time for filing an LLC, plus the $99 filing fee. Most of that time is spent on the consult to determine whether filing an LLC is appropriate for that client; the filing itself is very simple.

If you're having an operating agreement done, that can take a few additional hours, depending on how involved you need it to be, and that can add to the cost. $1000 is more than I've ever charged for an LLC filing + operating agreement.
