What do I need to create my site?

Question

Hello BP, I am new here on the forum, but from time to time I visited it and enjoyed reading tips and your experiences. I am a new investor and I have clear ideas of what I want to do: a website.

I am not an expert and I wanted to ask what do I really require to build a site? How much would it approximately cost?

And last question: would you start investing in a site (I mean your own) if you would be 99% sure of your idea?

Hey Casey! I would recommend getting a domain from GoDaddy or Google Domains, it should cost around $11-12/year. For hosting I would recommend BlueHost or HostGator, which can cost around $10/mo. Wordpress would be my recommendation on where to build out your website. There are quite a few themes out there that you can use, the most popular I have seen is "Houzez" on themeforest, which costs around $60. If you need help setting up your website there are web developers out there to get it created. UpWork is always a great place to start.

Hey Casey, I do websites for small businesses and real estate investors (along with graphic design, logos, branding etc.)  A simple but modern website on an all in one platform should run you about $150-$250 per year including domain and business emails.

As an example, you can buy a web domain from Google Domains for ~$12 a year.  Then, Google is partners with Bluehost to host a website and use Wordpress to create your site.  That's another $9.99 a month.  While Wordpress is used for some 30%-40% of the websites on the net, including some Fortune 500 companies, its doesn't "make the website for you."  Bluehost does have 24/7 tech support to get help.

You can build your own website with companies like Wix or Squarespace. They're both relatively easy to use and you don't really need technical experience to do so. Pretty cheap also.

If your idea more complicated than a simple informational site you should probably hire a web developer.
