Should I operate under a company name?

I have reached the point where I have started to create and compile the essential documents that I will need for acquiring and managing future properties. To follow Brandon Turner's advice, I want to get business cards and finish preparing before starting. With that being said, the one question of whether I need a company name or not comes to mind. If someone could help, I would greatly appreciate it.
