Beginner: Unsure about my future

Ethan Reetz
Posted

Hi, my name is Ethan, I'm 15, and I live in Portland, Oregon. I'm currently a sophomore in high school and I want to pursue a career in real estate but I'm not sure if college is worth it for the type of career I'm interested in. Should I go intern right out of high school or work under someone as a mentee? If so, where should I look and what should I be doing right now to be prepared for when I graduate? Or should I go to college first and take on some debt?

@Ethan Reetz, Nice work getting a jump on your future! As I'm sure you know, there are many sides to real estate. It all depends on what you want to do. Are you wanting to be an Agent, Investor, or something else? If I were your age, I would look at a construction trade school. No school debt, on the job training, and a skillset that would give you good income when you work for a customer/employer, and significant labor cost savings on your own properties when you can do the work yourself. Good luck!
