Buying my first Multi-Family Property

Gavin Collins
Posted

Hi ! My name is Gavin and I am wanting to make a solid foundation for a real estate investing career,

My goal is to get a small multifamily unit that I can house hack with my wife. (duplex - fouplex) Would you reccomend that we go for something a little less expensive upfront such as a fixer that does not appear to have many issues, maybe slight cosmetic improvements. Or should we pursure a new build that will not have much maintenence but will probably take more than 12 months to get into. Our timeline for a fixer would probably be about 6-8 months out, and a new build would probably be 12-14 months for purchase/ build start. Thanks so much in advance!
