Has anyone been an assistant/intern

Question

Starting out with very little money and no experience I have wondered about the idea of being an assistant/intern for an investor to start out my real estate investing career.

I was wondering if anyone has been an assistant or intern to a real estate investor recently and what did/do you do? I know people always talk about virtual assistants, but they cannot possibly do everything for an investor. So I figured that sometimes people need extra help from someone ready and willing to help in exchange for knowledge.

I worked with my uncle in his company for about 1 year to gain some good experience and learn the tactics of this business. I am sure that working for someone would be definitely better that directly starting own business. Read more about it.

I have not worked for someone but I have helped my dad and uncle. It to me was priceless with the information that I learned. My dad has purchased around 10 rental properties in the last 20 years. I went along with him and it helped me a lot. As for my uncle he has been a realtor since the late 80's. I learned about rentals on campuses because he lives close to ASU. I also got learn a little bit about flipping houses and raw land deals.

That's what I did as my college job.  Best education I ever received.  Worked my way up and learned more than any college class in real estate.

I haven't been an assistant but I know it would be a great learning experience.  I've seen some terrific posts on here from people that have started out that way.  I don't know how much you will get to see from this internship but my guess is that it will be worth more towards learning how to invest than a 4-year degree.  Find out what it entails and post a job description here and I'm sure you'll get some terrific feedback.  Good luck.
