17 In Need Of Help Learning About House Hacking

Hello, this is my first BP Post I am 17 in Canada and want to learn to house hack through college and have my first rental property but I don't know anything about real estate. I just finished high school and taking a year off to earn a down payment. in my job right now I am estimated to make 25k-30k CAD but I don't know how much of that I could save, thankfully my parents are going to pay for my college fees so I don't have to worry about that I just have to worry about my living expenses, books and other stuff. I need help with where to start off like how am I going to be able to borrow money from a bank at 18 and build a credit score. I have also talked to my parents about this and I thought of putting it under their name but if they are going to buy a second house they will be needing 20% off to buy a house. I need help with where to start off and what can i do to achieve this.

You seem like you're in a rush. Don't be. You need to focus on educating yourself (read books, watch videos, listen to podcasts, lots of googling, etc). This will be your foundation, don't skip it. Here are some suggestions:

Books:

The House Hacking Strategy, Craig Curelop

Rich Dad Poor Dad, Robert Kiyosaki
The Book on Rental Property Investing, Brandon Turner

Youtube:

Stephen Graham (building credit, real estate)

Ask Sebby (building credit)

Charlie Chang

Podcasts:

Bigger Pockets

House Hacking Success

Also, follow people that are doing what you want to do on social media.

Good luck.
