Duplex Renovation in Petworth Washington DC

Posted

I have a duplex in Petworth Washington, DC, that needs a complete renovation, specifically to start with I want to:

Modernize everything (everything dates back at least 30 years maybe more)

New Kitchen

Replace the floors because they can't be refinished again.

Add a second bathroom to the upstairs unit

Replace the back 2-story porch

Finish the basement apartment (it is bare wall now) into a 2br/2ba

Fix/Replace retaining wall

Overall I want to significantly improve the quality of my units.

If I can get this done, then the new rent with both units rented will cover not just the property's note (it currently covers itself), but it will also cover the mortgage on my primary residence.

I would like to start evaluating/interviewing contractors to start on this work.

Do you have any recommendations for contractors that could do what I'm mentioning above?

Thanks in advance

Richard
