Are there any "must have" items in your home before you rent them out? Not so much must haves for looks, i'm talking more safety products like CO detectors, fire extinguishers? Any thoughts?
We have always provided smoke detectors and a fire extinguisher. We are in the process of improving that to both photoelectric and ionic smoke detectors in all properties and a CO monitor in any properties with gas wall heaters.
In some jurisdictions, smoke (& soon to be CO) detectors must be hardwired (we use models with a battery backup as well), so check your state landlord/tenant laws and local building & fire codes.
We also provide smoke detectors, CO detectors, and fire extinguishers. I also provide an emergency contact list with appropriate numbers (fire, police, poison control, etc) although I am not sure it is a must have.
"I also provide an emergency contact list with appropriate numbers (fire, police, poison control, etc) although I am not sure it is a must have." Awesome Idea!!
