First Investment Property

Hello Everyone,

My name is Ricardo, I'm 25 years old and new to real estate investing. I recently joined BiggerPockets and have been reading through the beginner forums to try and gain as much useful information to start building a Portfolio in the Real Estate game. I do currently own and operate a commercial and residential moving company in Central New Jersey. Being in the relocation industry for the past 4 years has influenced my decision to get into real estate investing. Looking for advice on the steps I should take in the short term to get the ball rolling and obtain my first property. I am a first time home buyer. My plan is to use an FHA loan to purchase a 4-Plex, renting out 3 units and occupying the the 4th. I have been in contact with local agents and investors within my area that I have built a relationship with during the course of building my moving business. However, I'm interested in gaining more advice as well as what steps I should be taking before finding the property. Also, any useful tips to help find the right property would be extremely helpful and appreciated. The property that I'm looking to obtain, should ideally be within Monmouth County, NJ since my business is headquartered there.

I look forward to any insight you may be able to provide me.

Thanks,

Ricardo
