Newbie - is BPCon worthwhile?

Question

Random question - when you were first starting out (brand new to the business) did you find BPCon to be worthwhile?

I'm still in information overload / analysis paralysis phase (less so me more so my SO), and want to make sure the investment is worthwhile.

If I registered today it would be 0 investments; hopefully it's several more than that by the event.

I attended BPCon 2022 in San Diego as my first BPCon.   I have a fair amount of properties and quite a few years of experience (depending on what counts as experience, it can be too many years for me to want to admit).

I am not great socially, but I did enjoy socializing/networking.  I suspect many could have got more out of this aspect than I did.

I found the quality of the sessions varied, but in general were good.

The top reason I think you should attend BPCon is for the motivational aspects.  If it could add passion to someone who has been doing this as long as I have, I suspect a younger, motivated person could come out of BPCon having goals in a different stratosphere than prior to attending BPCon.

I will also add that for someone starting out, the social/network connections are more valuable than they are for someone at my stage.  If you like to socialize and are decent at it, I suspect you can find someone with experience in the RE area that most interests you that can guide you on your path (or at least answer any questions that you might have).

We have already purchased my ticket to BPCon 2023.  I will be getting in to Orlando too late for the opening socializer (due to prior plans).  The opening socializer is the initial place for networking and I thought it was the best place to network (so try not to miss it).

Absolutely worth it! The speakers they bring share great knowledge and inspiration. You will learn a lot from that aspect and as @River Sava mentioned above the people you meet at the event and outside networking events surrounding BPCon are all top notch! You never know if you will find a mentor there or your next deal. Hope to see you there!

BPCon is an amazing experience! I had the opportunity to attend in San Diego last October and met a plethora of inspiring/willing to help investors, lenders, educators, etc. If you have the chance to go I highly recommend it!

I've gone to the last two BPCons, I've been networking with BiggerPockets contributors and fans for many years. Been in masterminds with many people in the community. It was amazing to meet all my online friends the first year, then see how much progress everyone made the second year. I will be going back for a 3rd year. It's a great event, and you will learn a lot.

@Damon Kellar I've been on BP for several years and haven't gone yet, but just registered yesterday. I get to come home every night since I live here, but networking and investing in your education is paramount. Relationships matter and having/meeting like minded people from all over will serve you well.

I would encourage to get you SO on board because this can be tricky, scary, risky and you don't want to be jeopardizing a relationship before you even get started.

Online networking is great for daily Q&A, quick responses, and searchable posts.

But there's just something that can't be beat about in-person gatherings, especially in an area as vast as real estate investing.  The magic of connection and learning, the exposure to varied ideas/strategies/vendors/people, and the space to get away for a few days and focus just on this is unmatched.

The greatest value is in networking and building relationships with others outside of the training sessions. If you want to learn more about short-term rentals, you'll have the opportunity to meet like-minded investors to learn from. You can ask a lot of questions in a 30-minute lunch or over a couple beers at night. It's also a great motivator.
