Property Survey Issues in Erie, Pa
Hi Everyone,
I purchased a single-family home in Erie, Pennsylvania and I recently had a property surveyor come and mark the property lines to build a privacy fence. During the survey, one of the corners of the property lines did not match the existing fences. According to the person doing the survey, one of my neighbors was about 3 feet inside of our property. We asked her if we could enter her property to look for any existing stakes or markings. She denied access and stated she had done a property survey before building her fence. She's very unhappy and called the same company we use for our survey to request a copy of our report and also to request a new property survey for her home. She said we would take this to court because she was not moving her fence.
My question is:
Is it worth taking her to court to move her fence 2.7 feet over to her side, pay all the legal fees involved with this, and have an unhappy neighbor or should I just build my privacy fence around her and move on?
Also, can she request a copy of my property survey if I'm the owner? I had to pay to get it done, and I'm not sure if companies can disclose such information.
This is our first investment home and we wanted to fix it to do short-term rentals, but the first requirement is to build a privacy fence.
Any advice or suggestions for this situation?
