hey I'm a newyork city based newbie in investing and i need help .how do i go about finding the right mentor and what steps do i take to get myself in the right position to start investing

Locate and attend 3 different local REIA club meetings great place to meet people gather resources and info. Here you will meet wholesalers who provide deals and all the cash buyers (rehabbers) you will need. Find people here you can work with you.
