How to actually get started?

Have about 30k saved up, but I am based in California, definitely not enough to buy properties. The goal is to have a rental portfolio. What are some strategies you guys would recommend?

Hi @Alex Tsor nice to meet you. You could look into creative financing options seller financing, HELOCs, or private lending to stretch your capital further without taking on excessive risk. Some investors begin with a BRRRR strategy (buy, rehab, rent, refinance, repeat) in affordable markets, where you recycle your initial cash after refinancing.

Another option is to partner with others or join a co-investing group where you can pool capital and learn from more experienced investors while getting exposure to larger deals.
