Tax Pro Fraud
Used the feature on this group to find a tax pro. After I received multiple contacts from tax pros. Had a few phone calls. Setup a video conference with one of the tax pros labeled an EA. Seemed legitimate signed agreement, provided all our docs for tax prep. Then a month goes by attempting to contact the EA to get progress updates but never able to reach them. Got a text back once with a lame excuse. Now we have concluded that it was a scam.
Lost a retainer. Assuming we will need to report to IRS and to police perhaps FBI. Guess this is how I’ll be spending my day tomorrow. Uhaagg.
Recommendations? Sympathy?
