New to real estate investing

Good afternoon everyone!

my name is Dan I’m from the Chicago area my whole life, but I have spent time living abroad an Hawaii with the military. I recently started doing lot of reading and trying to learn as much as I can about rental properties before I get into the game. I do plan on moving soon out of the city limits and back into the burbs so my house would become a rental. I also am interested in getting another house, apartment, condominium, or townhome in the near future.

I am looking to see if there is ever meet up groups who get together during the month or weekends to share ideas, knowledge, and talk strategies or etc. or help share knowledge with someone starting out.
I appreciate your help, advice, and insight on this topic.

@Daniel Symons

Welcome! I found a lot of the BP books informative and useful when I was getting started so I recommend checking those out.

You can see some of the real estate meet ups posted here on BP under Community-->Real Estate Events & Meet ups. Chicago Multi-Family Club or Windy City REI are meet ups worth checking out.
