General Contractor

So just starting out I have informed a couple of my friends about my investing plans and goals. Well I have been doing research and now just starting to talk to to realtors and viewing houses. I start this blog off this way because now I have a friend who wants to join me and its a really good feeling. It's a prime example that acting on your statements and being motivated actually creates motivation in others. So he knows construction very well and I would want him to over see the rehabbing part of the business. Does he need to have a General contractor license? He will not be doing the rehabbing himself but will hire and manage all the sub contractors. Thanks for your help.
