Houston REIA/Wholesaler Suggestions

HI All,

As a newbie in Houston and after reading/listening to a lot of content it has become abundantly clear that I should check out a REIA. That being said, Houston has several of them. A colleague of mine recommended RICH, Lifestyles, or The Wealth Club.

Has anyone here been involved with any of these groups? Currently I am interested primarily in rehab and flip and buy and hold (sfr/multiplex residential).

Also does anyone know of any wholesalers in Houston they would recommend getting to know?

Thanks in advance!

Two Great reads, I bought both J. Scott The Book on Flipping Houses,The Book on Estimating ReHab Costshttp://www.biggerpockets.com/flippingbook

Locate and attend 3 different local REIA club meetings great place to meet people gather resources and info. Here you will meet wholesalers who provide deals and all the cash buyers (rehabbers) you will need. Go at least once to every meeting you can find. I always learn alot and meet alot of great people.

Consider checking out HUD homes for small multi's owner occupied gets first crack.

You might consider Niche or Specialized Housing like student housing. Rents can be 2-4 times more. Remember you don't have to own a property to control it.

Good luck

There are several groups and each has a different personality. I would visit RICH, Houston REIA, Wealth Club, and Lifestyles, and see which one appeals to you most. They all have free meetings for first-timers.

Of course, some people like to go to all of them. You'll start seeing familiar faces if you make the rounds.

Thanks Will. I think I may start with Wealth at the end of the month. Honestly, im a little imtimidated in going since im just starting out and don't have a ton of capital.

Welcome @John Baldwin

Those RE events are good events, you get to know people that are in the business. House is in top shape, there are plenty of good deals what you need is the time to meet the right people that can either provide you with a good inventory.

Good Luck!

Hi John,

My name is Ozzie, from Houston TX
I will be wholesaling this year. I've been educated by Rich Dad Poor dad/coach in wholesale. Email me at [email protected] so that we can exchange numbers and I can add you to my list if I come across a property that may work for you as a rehab.

Regards.

@John Baldwin , welcome to the site. Don't let yourself get intimidated at the REIA groups. We all start at square one! Get to know people and find out where you might be able to help. Lots of people will tell you no money is needed to invest in real estate, you just have to work for it. Don't forget that 50% of something is better than 100% of nothing. You might start by using other people's money in exchange for doing some dirty work.

I just attended a REIA meeting just yesterday for the first time. It was informative and a great place to network. Im a beginner and a little shy so I was glad that a nice couple started a conversation with me and gave me a lot of great advice. If you can meet at least one person at these meetings, it is bound to pay off at some point. Most people are glad to share their experience with you.

I plan to do some wholesaling this year in the Houston area so its good to meet some buyers at these events.
