How should i dress to my first REIC meeting?

Hi BiggerPockets,

I am attending my first REIC meeting in Los Angeles tomorrow and i might be too focused on the details i am not really sure how i should dress for the meeting. Is there such thing as dressing too casual/formal? My goal is to meet some investors and pick their brains a bit. Any advice will be appreciated

@Christopher  Orellana be as casual as you want. @Joshua McGinnis can confirm that in the meetings I lead, I'm more than likely in cargo shorts and flip flops. Its California... I've seen millionaires look like homeless people, and vice versa.

I had this exact same thought just a couple of years ago.

My advice? Go as yourself. They tend to be fairly informal. If you're worried that might be too casual, go busines casual (jeans, button down, sneakers) and you'll def be fine. I've seen folks show up in shorts and flip/flops to meetings and it worked out just fine.

More importantly is that you just go and own who you are. It can seem intimidating to be surrounded by what seems like more knowledgeable, experienced investors, but don't worry about that.

They'll be people there from all walks of life and because there are a million ways to make money in real estate, not everyone will be an expert in everything.

Just go and be yourself and be open to the experience. You're bound to walk away having learned something or made a new connection.

Somewhere between shorts and a tank top and a suit and tie. The majority of the people wear jeans and polos to our meetings, its fairly casual and no one really dresses up.
