I was wondering if anyone could recommend a book or some other resource for gaining some more knowledge about financial analysis or just financial knowledge in general. The calculators here seem like a really good resource and J Scott has some good resources on his blog too but I would really like to learn what all this stuff means. I would like to be able to go to a lender and be able to confidently explain why they should loan me money for a deal. I want to be able to calculate the IRR and all that other stuff without the calculators and really understand it all before I actually start using the calculators. Any advice here is much appreciated.

He was also a guest on the BP Podcast, one of the first few episodes. Studying that book taught me everything you're asking about in this post. Hope it helps!

That would be the book I would have recommended too.
