Investing with 5k

Hello all I am new to this site, it seems great so far. I have 5,000 i want to start out with investing in Land or Real Estate, what is the best way to start  with this small amount. Are their real estate groups in the Las Vegas area that I can invest with? Or should I start out wit a duplex or something similar? Any advice will be great.
