Defining Business Plan

I know that it is very important to define a solid business plan, and right now, I'm an agent and also a private investor. I want to focus on acquiring small multifamily units (2-10 units) and renting them out, bringing in a monthly cash flow.

How descriptive should the business plan be, and what are the most important elements to include? And in terms of time frame, what should I consider?
