Yard Signs in Front Yard - Yay or Nay?

Hello,

I have a question for everyone.  Does anyone have any experience with putting yard signs in their front yard to market their business?  I have yet to get a direct answer so Im hesitant to do so....does anyone have any experience with this they are willing to share?

Thanks @Mindy Jensen, thats a good point.  If thats true, it would be hard for me to understand being able to market someone elses business on ones property but not their own.

My street has a good amount of traffic.  The reason the idea was attractive to me is that I know there are quite a few senior citizens around my neighborhood which could potentially be motivated sellers (and their friends and family that drive through the neighborhood).  I havent asked my neighbors directly but will do so before trying (thanks for the advice).  I know bandit signs are illegal in my area so I want to avoid any potential tickets if Im in the wrong.

@Sean Gibson, are you sure they are marketing their business, or the business that provided the roofing, plumbing, etc.

I see yard signs after some work has been done, advertising the company who did the work on the house.

I've never seen anyone advertising their company in their yard. Are you on a busy street? Do your neighbors care?

Those signs aren't that pricey - throw one up in the yard and see what happens...

Thanks for your input.  I see people around my neighborhood marketing their business (roofing, plumbing, etc.) and thought it was a good idea.

If you were marketing your property that would be one thing.  But marketing an unrelated business...in my mind a sign in the yard would be tacky.  Just my 2 cents.
