Agent access to MLS

Hey I was listening to a recent podcast where J Scot suggested that every investor starting out should get thier real estate license for several reasons. One of the advantages he mentioned was that an agent has better access to the MLS. My question is what kind of access does a broker have that one with out a license doesn't? Don't we all have access to the MLS? (such as Zillow, Real tor.Com etc...) sorry for my newbie question. I'd appreciate of someoen can take the time to explain it. Thank you!
