What state should LLC be originated?

Hi - I'm a new investor outside of chicago and wondering if I should establish an LLC or establish an LLC in a different state. I'm only asking because Illinois charges 4x other states for annual renewal and the initial setup is more expensive as well. Any advise would be greatly appreciated!
