Just the FAX please!

I'm slowly setting up my home office to run my RE business. I called my phone company to get a business line and a fax line installed. She laughed out loud and told me I only need one line for business and fax! Did I feel stupid! Come on....I'm new here!

This morning I went to the web to research fax machines....WOW!! There's alot of stuff out there! I already have a printer/copier/scanner with no fax, and I have a cordless phone. So all I need to do is buy a cheapy fax machine right?

Now the technical stuff...

1. How does the phone and fax hook into one phone jack?
2. Do I need a spllitter coming out of my wall jack (one for phone and one for fax machine?)
2. Will the fax machine recognize the incoming fax signal and send it to the fax machine vs. the phone?
3. Should I toss the printer and buy an "all-in-one" printer with fax?

Thanks for your help as always!

Here you go Mike, I'll answer the questions:

1) My all-in-one hooks directly into the wall.
2)Most all-in-ones will have a in-line and an out-line.
3) Yes, the fax should tell the tone difference.
4) I would get an all-in-one if you are going out to buy anything.

Take note: You can do it other ways. Looking into different ways, you might same yourself money.

Personally I am like NCMark, I use the all-in-one.
