Help needed!! From the Midwest to South America

Good afternoon, I'm looking for some help. I work for a family business in commercial contracting, with my own contractor's license. I'm currently studying to get my real estate license as well. Does anyone here have experience managing properties from out of the country? My wife is from Paraguay and eventually we would like to move there, but the only way I feel I can provide for us is if I have passive income from here. ( My Spanish is not bad, but I'm skeptical of the opportunity there). We live in Evansville, Indiana. I would love to hear other people's opinions on what some of my options may be. I am pretty well connected in my area, but lack the capital at the moment to make any decision or investment anytime soon. Does this seem far fetched? My perception of out of state/country property management seems as though you will be taken advantage of for the littlest things like changing a light bulb. Does anyone have any sound advice?
