Ready to buy first property... help!

My hubby and I have been researching like crazy and are ready to start searching for our first property... but what steps must we have in place first? How do we start with a 'business name' to purchase our first flip? Do we register that name somewhere even though we are not LLC'ing just yet (in the works). I have an appointment set up with a CPA and attorney to get some things lined out but I'm curious now.
