need help picking city

I am always on the road for work, so I am in the perfect position to purchase a duplex or small home that I can build equity into and rent out while absent. The only trouble is where. I'm not very family oriented and already go from place-to-place so anywhere I move will just be about the same socially, though I do have more friends on the East coast. I like outdoor activities, but of course all the mountainous cities are way out of my price range. I just want a modest home where I can build equity, get help paying the mortgage while not living there, and ultimately, when I quit traveling, I'll have a home. Places I've considered are Greenville, SC, Boise, ID, Fayetteville, AR, Richmond, VA, and truly the list goes on. Does anyone have an opinion on a growing but still affordable market that would match my outdoor lifestyle? Looking forward to any responses! Thanks!

Greenville SC is where I am located. It's the 4th fastest growing city in the states! But with that being sad it's so hard to find duplexes. If they are for sale they are marked up by a lot. You'd have to find a special deal or find a great deal. I've been looking for a duplex or triplex for a while but it's hard to even find them on the market. But, with an investor mindset I'm sure you could make it happen if you're motivated enough. Best of luck to you
