Brand new what do I do???

Question

Hello everyone, my name is Shantal and I'm so excited to be here. I am a 24yr old and I am eager to gain financial freedom! I am currently taking real estate course to become licensed but I really want to be an investor. I want to start with wholesaling as I don't have much money to finance flipping (that's really my passion).

I have looked into all these online guru programs but honestly can't afford any of them and don't want to waste money and not get the help I need. The only one that seemed promising so far is Cody sperber and I can't afford it either. I really just need help with the basics, just a little push to get started. I am located in CT and really want to make sure I do things the right way as I don't want any legal troubles.

it really saddens me that there's not many people willing to invest in others without putting them in more financial stress. You're imparting knowledge and there's nothing more fulfilling like when your student succeed and you knew you had a hand in it. Please help me, where can I get more information on how to get started???

@Paul Bowers thanks! Good way to look at it. I'm just amazed that people aren't willing to help others anymore. What about the notion that if you succeed, I succeed. I promise I will break that cycle. Thanks again!

Hello Everyone,

I have been following BP for a few months and trying to learn the basics while I contemplate my plan for real estate investing.  As of a few days ago, I have been put in a situation where I will need to step up and act as an investor for a property that has been deeded to me as the current owner can no longer care for the property. I would like to rent out the property, however, it will require significant repairs and an insurance policy will be coming due within the next few weeks. I had not anticipated this happening but need to take action quickly. What steps would you suggest that I take first? Thank you for your help with this unique situation.

@Shantal Lawrence welcome aboard.  You do have those rich friends, there's literally thousands of them here.  They may not be willing to just hand you money (at least not yet) but they are willing to give you more education than those student loans got you and for free.  Read, interact, learn.  Take your time.  Your new found friends will steer you in the right direction.

All of the content on BiggerPockets is free and all of the information you need is on this site. You just need to be sure to be active on it.

I would suggest listening to the podcasts and reading the Ultimate Beginners Guide to Real Estate Investing. In the podcast there are always book recommendations, read the books that are recommended. They will help tremendously.

you have to find your own way. Each people have different taste when it comes to real estate. Me for example, I just work extra and have the discipline to simply save up 20k for the down payment my 1st Deal and keep it very simple since then. I read lots of books to subtitle for my lack of knowledge and have trusted rich friends instead of paying for a guru.
