Is taking your real estate liscence really worth it?

Question

I'm interested in real estate and wanted to know if realtors are very successful in what they do? I'm changing careers and wanted to know the ups and down of being a realtor.  The erason I'm changing careers because I would like to make alot of money doing real estate. Also would like to hear success stories.

If I were you I wouldn't become a realtor. Why? It's simple really. It would give you the wrong training, the wrong idea about being a realestate investor, and the wrong direction on your career path. As a realestate investor, or making big money in realestate you just want to do 1 thing. Accumulate as much good debt as you possible can. Millions of good debt. So  just focus on that. Which you can do by trying to find as many little to no money down deals as you can. You'll get way further ahead way quicker than trying to become a realtor. Up here realtors also have to complete about 30 credits worth of college courses every year to keep there Realtors license. So there's ongoing upgrading and testing involved. Remember you don't want to help someone else to buy, you want to help yourself to buy. And you don't need a realestate license to do that. If you haven't already, read Carlton Sheets course.

I agree with JW knowledge is power most clients you deal with have only owned one home and that was their first and the likely hood of them remembering anything about a real estate transaction is slim. The more informed your client is, the more referrals you will receive. Be dedicated, driven stay focused, write a plan of action set some goals realistic ones.If you are passionate about your career and what you are accomplishing you should have no problem and make lots of money. I got my license 12 months ago and started in an office with 10 other new agents....I am the only one left.    I have closed 10+ million in volume in the past 12 months.

I now coach new agents coming to my office and I tell each one that there are two keys to success - treat real estate like a full time job and work hard to be the most informed.    Knowledge is truly power in this industry and to build a solid client base you need to be able to add value to the deal.   There are hundreds of agents out there.....differentiate yourself by being an expert at what you do.

Being successful in any business will require years of diligent effort and commitment.  Successful realtors can make a very good income ($100K+ and some much more than that), but the average realtor, like the average investor, doesn't make much money at all.  I think I read a statistic that the average realtor makes $20K per year.  I would attribute that to a lack of years of diligent effort and commitment.

Whatever you decide to do, understand that to be successful you will have to give years of your life in diligently pursuing your goals with commitment and effort.
