Need help understanding asset protection

Hello! This is my first time posting and I'm not entirely sure if this is the right place for this question. I apologize if it isn't.

I recently read Gary Keller's book "The Millionaire Real Estate Investor" and in one part of the book (Part Two: The Four Stages>Own A Million>Issue 15: Protect Your Assets, pg. 302) he briefly touches on the importance of "entity and estate planning" in relation to protecting yourself against liabilities and minimizing taxes in the long run. He also mentions that failing to do this can be an expensive mistake.

Does anyone have any article links that give a more in-depth look to this aspect of RE Investing? Or perhaps some personal experiences they would be willing to share? I would like to be able to protect any future investments and returns from them and would love to have a better understanding of the process/benefits/consequences of this part of the game.

Thank you.
