I read a post that said “Real Estate is 95% Mindset & 5% Real Estate” it’s seems to be true because some days I can work on finding a deal for about 4-5 hours and there’s other when I can’t even do it for 30 mins. I’m having a hard time really sitting down and getting to it. I know that’s my downfall. What do you guys do for motivation ? What keeps you going even when it seem like it’s getting you no where.

there are those that want.

And there are those that WANT!! As in whatever it takes. 

I am not those that ties happiness to the process. To me that is a very nostalgic poetic theoretic, and lobby dobby not realistic, no time for that , way of viewing things.

Note I am not jabbing at the poster... I said FOR ME that is not the case.

I NEED my freedom. I am not happy sitting till the late hours writing SEO for my website.

I am not happy telling a seller that needs money for their sick child's operation that I can only pay $70K for their house instead of $120K she should be getting.

I am not friggin HAPPY to drive all over friggin damn CT looking at houses that may or may not lead to a damn deal.

What drives me, is when I see people like Brandon doing podcasts from friggin Hawaii while I am freezing my monkey nuts off hustling so I can be able to be free, and live life on MY damn terms when I make it.

I used to stare at a bag of crab legs in the super market.my mind says NO you greedy animal you can't afford it, while my belleh says  .. dude, that with butter.. are you kidding? GET IT.. just for me to ge it, put it in my cart walk to the register to then turn around and put it back because I know I can't afford that stuff.


Why I do it? Thinking how my parents sacrificed everything so I could get a solid education without having to work a day during college because I was nose deep in Complex equations  of linear and nonlinear thermodynamics and chaotic flows", and couldn't sacrifice the time to work while studying! And now someone needs to take care of them! And it sure as hell ain't going to be my brother or my sister... as they are too busy with providing for themselves!

No, sorry. for me it is not some happiness attachment. For me is is do or friggin die.  I am relentless unyielding because I NEED to live life on my damn terms!

I will crush, destroy, annihilate, obliterate, dominate anyone in my way to that goal. When I say I need this, I friggin NEED THIS! 

What keeps me going when things are getting you nowhere?

Very simple really...

The alternative simply is not acceptable!

    My WHY keeps me moving forward. My why is wealth. Im focusing everything I can on building wealth while working a temporary job. I like my job but i don't love my job because I didn't build it with my own two hands. Even though I feel as if I have not been successful in the real estate or investing aspect I haven't given up. Waking up every morning to know that my dreams are not being lived at the moment makes me think what more can I do. In reality its lot I can do because nothing has taken off, but patience is key. I am enjoying the process of my journey and the struggle I deal with daily to know my reward will be that much greater. Trust your process and keep your why in a straight eye view.

    Yasmin.  I wish you the best of luck but I would respectfully suggest you dig deeper on your “Why”.  Wealth is not a Why.  Wealth is a tool.  Saying wealth is your why is like saying you want a hammer when what you really want is a house.  I hope you take this in the positive experience it is intended.  Also, the key is not patience but action.  Sounds like what you may need is a process.  All of that is easy to do but you have to first find your why.

    I blog.... and write poems about REI... and share my journey to others in context of math, engineering, breakdancing, art, having a full time job, not having one... and everything beneath and below. Always remember when you feeling less motivated that there are people way less fortunate than you. Keep that on the back of your mind on the rainy days and in days of motivation be the thought leader.

    What keeps me focused and motivated is the fact that cultivating my knowledge and putting my money to work is probably the funnest, most enjoyable and rewarding thing I've done in my life (aside from marrying my wife, of course). I used to think it was a desire to be able to quit my job that drove me, but I've realized that's really not the case at all.  I love working for my company... and I also love investing.

    Hi @Shanae Williams, I agree with @Mike Dymski, find something that you enjoy doing or will drive you. Simon Sinek writes an excellent book about finding you "why". This is that thing that drives you and makes you jump out of bed, even during your darkest day. My driving force is my family and creating a brighter future for them. When you have figured this out, it becomes less about the daily work and more about your final goal.

    That's easy.  I focus on my "WHY".  My why is the reason I get out of bed each day. It's the reason I work hard and push myself even on the days I don't feel up to it.  My "WHY" is my family, yours may be different but you need to find out what makes you tick.  Find that thing that no matter what you will have the drive to push through any adversity you face.  The rewards will be so much greater than just saying you want money.

    @Shanae Williams I have the same issue, especially whenbi am looking for deals then then I HAVE TO LOOK FOR THE finance foR it. What I think keeps me fOCUSED IS the podcasts, a GOOD Partner, and constant deal flow which force me to look at them again. I also do construction for-other investors that arouses iN ME AN apetite to continue to look forward and continue the journey. PARDON MY cAPS ITS A GLITCH IN THE APP.

    Besides the “Get to Why” philosophy (Simon Sinek), which I agree with. I believe in visualization and self actualization.

    What I mean, is for example:

    My why: I never want my daughters to have to be a corporate slave and be dependent on getting a weekly paycheck

    Visualization: I picture them homeless and begging for food when I need to get motivation to jump over obstacles. I also picture them happy.

    Self actualization: I tell myself that I can do it and become a successful REI, and God has blessed , with gifts and tools to attain a life of joy and abundance. And that I will seek every opportunity he places before me. And I mentally chart a to do list and cross it off each night. Just take one step a day to the goal and before you know it, you are there.

    @Jerryll Noorden OMG!!!! I love your response. My son is what keeps me motivated. Spending countless weekends at home because I simply can not afford to move my car unless its for work is what keeps me going. My Why is what keeps me going. Why I am doing this is for the financial freedom. But i also like people and looking at houses. Real estate excites me! But well put my friend. 👏👏

    Understanding my "Why".  I got started recently also after many years as an executive in the corporate arena.  I agree it can be a challenge to stay motivated.  I've quickly learned that this business (as most things in life) isn't as easy as some people or "marketing" promotions attempt to lead you to believe.  However, because of my "Why" I keep going.  Most days I spend as many hours (10+) as I did as an executive to get things done for other's business,  then some days I don't.  The big difference now is I'm building my own business (doing it for myself not someone else---one of my "Whys") and have quickly developed an enthusiasm for the RE business, the challenges and the opportunities I envision.   I look your successes, no mater how small along the way, take satisfaction in those and use them for motivation.  Don't count hours, count achievement of tasks/objectives.  Also connect with liked-minded, success oriented people for motivation and insight.  There is much to learn and do to be a success (however you may define it) in the RE business. 

    Good luck, keep pushing and continued success to you!
