The necessity of having a real estate license

Hi! My name Is Greg and I’m new to real estate. I am really interested in the buying/ holding of property’s. At this point I am thinking single fam or small multi unit houses. I am in the researching and planing part and wanted to get peoples opinions one wether or not I should get my real estate License. Is it worth it ? Or should I just go through an agent till I get further along?Thoughts?
