Young mom LOVE everything about starting real estate except...

Hello!

I'm a stay at home mom, daughter is 8 months and I've been interested in getting my agent license for awhile now. I love researching, marketing, networking, etc.

I've found many homes for friends and family over the years to just refer them to an agent and the agents got the commission.

I want to get into investing but am getting my real estate license first to get my feet wet and to also have an advantage when we buy out first home here soon.

The one thing holding me back is the safety aspect. I've volunteered with sexually abused and trafficked women so I've heard story after story. I'm a petit, 100lb girl. I'm nervous doing tours with meeting with potential clients. Is this irrational?

Any advice would be appreciated! :)

Hi Taylor,

Your concerns are completely rational. When I look at a house, I text someone the address and the name of the person I'm meeting, and then text them when I am out. I also only meet people for the first time during daylight. Prospective tenants have to text me a pic of their driver's license before I set up a meeting. And I only invest in neighborhoods that I feel safe in at night.

If you get your license you will be working for a broker- when you are picking your broker, talk to them about what they recommend for their realtors. I bet there are options we aren't even aware of.
