How much money should I have to start investing?

I am new to Bigger Pockets and love the site so far. I am currently finished taking all the real estate classes offered at City College San Francisco and have sent in my paperwork to take the CA real estate exam to become an agent. I want to try and buy my first property by the end of the year and am looking at a multi-family house hack in the Bay Area or a buy and hold out of state. My main question is what is a good amount of money to have saved to begin the RE investing process. What would you do with 75,000 to 100,000 in possible investing funds?
