What's Your Favorite Side Gig?

Hi BiggerPockets, friends! I just purchased my first home back in March and have been anxiously trying to figure out ways to save for an investment property. I know it's only been two months since the purchase, but the lovely and successful folks on this website have really fueled the fire in me to become creative! I have been reading articles on how to buy your next home with little to no money down, but I really want to grow my cash in the bank a little more than it is now. Any super easy side gigs you could think of? Or have experience in? For example, I have heard of people who wrap their cars to advertise brands. Apparently, you could make a few hundred dollars per month. Any other legit ideas?

Bringing in some nice cash flipping used clothes, collectibles, etc on Poshmark and Ebay-  Almost have my bills covered with this, but its a volume business and took about 18 months to build up the necessary inventory, and requires a bit of storage space.

"Super Easy" side gigs.... hmmm

Well I have a little story for you how I fell into MY "little" gig.

In fact I make more money that way than flipping houses....

Actually I think the mods won't be happy if I say what I do because they will burn me on "self promoting".

So.. let me try talking in code.

I was good at ranking my site #1. I dove into it and started experimenting. Soon enough I started correcting people about SEO. Then I started correcting those that had Marketing companies. I started showing my results of my ranking and all the leads that were pouring in....

Then people started seeing me as THE authority in that field. People then started to seek me out.

I refused to charge money because we are all supposed to help each other so I did it for free.

This lasted 7 months... more and more people were seeking me out. It became overwhelming and I really had to start charging.. :( (Sorry...)

Now it has gone so crazy I have to be SUPER selective who I work with. I just have no time to work with everyone. This made people even more interested in working with me...

and a new side gig was borne!

So the lesson here is...

You can turn any skill you have into money as long as people need that skill set.

Look into that for your side gig.

I have a side thing i do. its by no means profitable but i enjoy art, so i run a small biz doing logo design and branding.

Its fun and I dig it!  Also in the process of designing my own clothes...just for me hahah

I enjoy doing small handicraft type items and selling them at farmers markets on Weekends. Doesn't make a ton of money, but it's therapeutic and enriching

Life remains interesting, so I have always kept side hustles. I will list a few and the whys. Money isn’t always the main reason. Sometimes learning/honing skills or contacts is more important.

1. Battens or waiting tables. Low barrier to entry. Cash tips...

2. Selling cars: you here more NOs. Helps you listen for the yes. Can do part time. Commission only.

3. Volunteering at favorite charity of the job you want. Gives you a hand up come interview time.

4. Help with a rehab. Volunteer to learn new skills. Paint or mud drywall while you ask questions.

5. I once took a job stocking at a liquor store. Made contacts to use for a brewery sales job a year later.

Hey @Mary Hitchcock, the best side gig is marketing to find properties. If you find one that you can not take down or is not what you want, wholesale it and you can make a few $1000. This way you will always have a fresh supply of new properties coming to you. You can pick and choose the ones that you want to keep or rehab or whatever. I have found my last two personal homes this way in addition to all the rehabs and wholesales.
