Duplex House Hacking UK

Hi Everyone,

I am new to real estate and have not got a property yet. I spoke to a friend of mine who lives in Canada and he said I could get a duplex because I want to house hack but also have privacy and my own area (not sharing the kitchen, bathroom etc). 

If anyone has experience doing this or something similar in the UK, it would be amazing to talk to you and discuss this further. I am still at university and have two years left. I am hoping to get my first rental property up and running before I leave university.
