Puerto Rico title search?

Question

Can someone point me in the right direction to do a title search in Puerto Rico? My wife was blindsided the other day when a distant relative of her contacted her to tell her that her grandfathers house in PR had been vacant for the last three years and wanted to know what she was going to do with the house? My wife had always assumed that after the passing of her grandfather that her grandmother had sold the house when she moved in with relatives in New York. Her grandmother has recently  passed.   Her goal is to find out if she does indeed own the property so she can determine the next step.

you will need to talk to the CRIM. They will help you; I use the term help loosely. when I say help, I mean you have to show up at sunrise and wait around several hours.

You will also have to pay for the title certification.

Hello Mario J. Perez,,  So I just moved back to Puerto Rico about a month ago..  I have had a heck of a time trying to get info of vacant homes.  Not like in the states where you can just get an App and find owner information on an address or APN.  I used property radar which covers all of California, Arizona and Nevada.  When I showed a couple real estate agents here, they said this was all private information.  Any thoughts on this if I am after a few leads for vacant or preforclosures???

Is there a will? Do you have any info on the property at all? If you have a "numero de catastro" (a number assigned to each property) you could find info on the property. Or at least coordinates or address and go from there.
