Finding a job or Internship

I know 2 people well that are in real estate, my Boy Scout leader which manages a team of loan officers and one of my friend's mom which is a loan officer for US Bank. One of my teacher's family and runs a real estate group and someone in my grade's parent runs a realty group. I've asked my friend's mom about shadowing or an internship or something and she didn't know what I would be allowed to do since I'm not certified. What should I do next to try to get an internship or something?

Hey Kyle! It is good to hear that you are trying to gain some knowledge around real estate! When you are just starting and trying to just get your foot in the door you need to come to a person not with the question of "what can I do for you?" but instead with a solution such as "Can I help you with your filing paperwork, answering phones, or managing your email?". When you just ask someone "what can I do for you?" then you end up asking them to do more work to find you work to do.

So, think of what skills you currently have and see if any of them need that kind of help... even offer to work for free. I have been in real estate for 10+ years and I got my first start by going to an apartment complex office every week for months asking if they need help with filing anything until one day they said yes and I just started with filing leases. Within two years I was managing one of there 100+ unit apartment complexes.
