Should I get my real estate license ?

Question

I’m 24 years old, I’ve been doing home improvement for about 4 years now. I’ve been obsessed with real estate can’t stop thinking about it. I’ve rehab properties, done project management, done leasing I’m currently rehabbing 4 apartments in a 42 unit building. I’m currently enrolled in a property management course half way done. I’m thinking about getting my real estate agent license should I ?

I love to learn and am coachable but is it worth it in order to become an investor ? Would it be valuable to be experienced in all this in order to approach a lender for funding ? Would it be helpful?

@Kevin Santiago a lot of people think having a license can create a conflict of interest. When licensed, you have to disclose to a seller/buyer that you have your real estate license. They may then ask for your opinion on the particular transaction that you are making with them, and this may create a problem. I would say, if you are doing it to gain real estate investing knowledge, then it's not necessary. How ever, if you are doing it because you love real estate, and you see this as another stream of income, then go for it! Hope this helps

As a 24-year-old Realtor, I can tell you that you absolutely do not need your license to become an investor. My current network ranges from doctors, company execs, blue-color workers, veterans, etc. You name it, I've met it. Some have their license, some don't. They have all been very successful regardless.

I would recommend that you continue mastering your trade. Not only is your work highly sought after, but you will also know one of the most crucial aspects of real estate investing, and more importantly, the costs attributed to it.

Save money -> find an area you're familiar with -> team up with a good agent -> do your due diligence -> estimate rehab costs -> BRRRR
