Starting out with 80k which direction to go

Im new to real estate investing and have read a couple books and been hanging out on bigger pockets.  I have around 80k to invest in cash and was wondering if I could get some input.  I would like to do buy and hold real estate.  It seems alot of goals are to start with a few properties then size up to a bigger one.  With that said should i go with a bigger property put 20% down and be in the 300k range or do i start with a smaller investment, rehab, rent, and refinance using the brrrr method.  I am set on the buy and hold type investing but just not sure which way to do it.  Also I am located in upstate NY Albany area.

Not sure what your personal situation is like but have you considered house-hacking your first deal?
