Starting from 0 what would you do?

Question

Hey Guys,
I'm 21 years currently living in Israel (the middle-east) and I want to move back to the US to work and Invest in R.E.
I've read many books and took a r.e class here in Israel and i feel ready to move to the US in a few months. Question is where would you guys go if you were in my shoes. I'm going alone with $25k to my name. Plan is to find a job related to r.e and settle in for 1-2 years, learn my market and then invest. I have some family near Miami so i was thinking about Tampa\Orlando\Jacksonville.
Ill love to get some advice.

Hello Adi and welcome to BiggerPockets!

I think you're on a great path by doing your reading and research on RE.

If possible, I would recommend you move in with family for a couple of months (or as long as possible) until you get settled with a job and an area you'd like to move to. There are some non-sales RE jobs that can help you earn while you learn - Construction jobs, RE administrative jobs, and other related positions.

If you can get family to partner with you, you might be able to get a house-hack deal.

There are tons of other options for you with respect to: career path; location to live/invest; strategy for first deal; etc. Keep doing your research, keep reading, keep asking questions on these forums, stay active on BiggerPockets by using the 'Search' and 'Keyword Alert' functions.

@Adi Jacob I'll second what @Abel Curiel says and take it one step further. Try and decide what your ultimate goal is when it comes to real estate. And then when you get to the states and get a job related to RE, get a job that helps you learn and work towards that end goal.

For instance, I always wanted to have a portfolio of passive income-producing assets. So when I got my real estate license, I chose to affiliate myself with a brokerage that specialized in multi-family properties and also had a property management company.

@Adi Jacob If I had to start all over I would do everything I could to surround myself with people who were at the highest level of what I wanted to do.  As they say, your network is your net worth.  Go to conferences, meetups, local events (in the niche you want to focus on) and meet as many people as you can and tell them your goals, vision and plan.  As you build your network you will have much better access to be able to build your company/business.  Real estate is a team sport so build your team up front.  Best of luck!

I am definitely biased but I can tell you that 25k goes a long way here in Wisconsin. The market here is very stable with so many large businesses relocating to the area or opening new locations here. Amazon recently started a project here and is set to hire 500 people by this fall. These companies are creating a ton of jobs which are boosting the rental market and keeping investment properties a top tier investment in the area.
