First Step to Financial Freedom: Real Estate Agent vs Wholesaler

Posted

Hello Bigger Pockets Community. My name is Tai and I am a 20 year old college student in Los Angeles California. Like most of you I am pursuing financial freedom through real estate, more specifically through rental property. I recognize that this will require good credit, seed money, networking, and strong foundational knowledge. As such, I am currently building my credit score, attending real estate meetings, and scouring through YouTube, podcasts, and literature for further knowledge. In terms of wealth building I am considering working in real estate to gain capital, connections, and knowledge at the same time. Two paths that stick out to me are working part time as a real estate agent or starting a wholesale business. The questions that I would like to ask to our community is:

  1. 1.) What are the pros and cons of each path?
  2. 2.) What is your personal suggestion?
  3. 3.) Are there any alternative paths I am not considering?

Please feel free to respond, I would love to hear your input.
