Newbie Advice Wanted House Hacking

Shyla Cooks
Posted

My partner and I are very interested in getting into real estate via house hacking. However, it has been extremely difficult to come across a duplex that we like. We were interested in staying in one side and renting out the other. All of the duplexes that come up are in a horrible neighborhood or they are really old. How did you start your real estate journey? Is there a different avenue we can take? What recommendation could you give us?

Any response is greatly valued.

@Joshua Ferrari thank you so much for that in depth reply! At first, I wanted to start off wholesaling. However, I just couldn’t figure it out. In light of the current situation it was has been very difficult to network and learn. I learn best in person. However, I grabbed a book on house hacking made from someone off of bigger pockets and I was able to understand immediately. It was very well written and detailed. I will definitely be more patient and try to find off market properties.
