More networking options?

Question

I'm looking for more ways in which I can meet investors in my local area, but I am having a hard time finding opportunities here in Anchorage, Alaska.

There is no REIA in Alaska. 
From what I've found, there were only about 3 or 4 RE related groups on meetup.com. Only one of them meets regularly, which consists of about 4 active members.

I am going to attend all the meetups I can with this group, but I'd also like to find more opportunities to meet with investors. What other methods would I be able to use?

Thankss again Ned, yes, you can find owners in title to multiple properties. You can also fing those who carry back financing and who make loans, those are your financing types. Look for deeds of trust for the private lenders, :)

I'm not sure how to look up absentee owners, but I'll look into that. 
So far I'm thinking rental property is what I'm most interested in so I'll definitely use your advice to look out for rent adds.

I also just set up my Anchorage and Alaska keyword alerts earlier today.

Set up an alert here on BP for Alaska and or Anchorage so when anyone posts about them you get notified.

When Bill refers to the Courthouse what he is referring to (I assume) is check ownership records and look for "absentee" owners. These are owners who do not live in the property. These are most likely landlords or other investors.

Also you can go to rent court or check for rent adds. Anytime you see a property being renovated stop and talk. You will either meet an owner or a contractor, both can be valuable leads.

If you have a friendly agent to work with, do a search for newly renovated houses for sale. You may not even need and agent with all the consumer sites that list properties for sale.  Good luck - Ned

If you want money people, you are networking in the wrong places with RE types, they know the game, what you need are private investors that you can inform, so long as you have the necessay knowledge.

Civic organizations, the Red Cross, Literacy Council, Hospital Volunteers, Friends of the Library, Church groups, etc. are things the retirees get involved with doing community service. Don't be quick about soliciting them! Let them know what you do. How you will shine is by contributing your time and efforts in those activities without motives or expectations. When they see you're a good guy, you'll make friends and then friends will support you.

You can locate RE investors at the courthouse to get you past the initial time it takes for you to become known in the community.
